A campaign by the Craven Local Strategic Partnership (Improving Transport Group) aims to persuade people to change their habits, even if just a little.
Residents of Craven are being encouraged to leave their cars at home at least once a week.
About 3,000 people travel by car to work in Skipton from surrounding areas and about 3,650 drive to Leeds or Bradford.
The hope is to increase bus usage, cut traffic congestion and help people reduce their carbon footprint. People will also be encouraged to cycle or walk to work.
If 5% of the current drivers leave their car at home that will put an extra 333 passengers on buses. One bus can take up to 35 cars off the road.
Launching on International Car Free Day, September 22, the campaign will include a leaflet drop in areas where there is a frequent bus service and advertising on buses and car park tickets.
Let us know how you intend to reduce your car use and win a bike of your choice to the value of £250. Download the competition form, complete and return as detailed on the form.
People will be asked to pledge their commitment and describe what they or their family is doing to reduce car travel.
