It's not really a bus, it's bicycles! But like a bus the Aire Valley Bike Bus has a set route and a timetable, so cyclists can jump on and off the bus along the route.
The group began cycling together every Wednesday morning in August 2008 with the aim to:
Encourage people to commute by bike
Benefit from safety in numbers
Share the commute with friends
The Aire Valley Bike bus currently commutes via:
- Keighley
- Crossflats
- Bingley
- Saltaire
- Frizinghall
- Manningham
- Bradford
There has been a steady growth in riders and there are currently eleven people using the bus.
The group is a mix of seasoned riders and people who are just venturing back onto their bikes after a number of years. The pace and atmosphere is friendly.
Its a superb way to help less confident cycling commuters to gain confidence and make commuting to and from Bradford safer for all cyclists.
